Dr. Dan Reidenberg is the Safe Online Standards (SOS) Director for the Mental Health Coalition, the Managing Director of the National Council for Suicide Prevention, a Special Advisor on the board of the International Association for Suicide Prevention, a Certified Psychological Autopsy Investigator and serves on several national and international editorial boards.
Dr. Reidenberg worked on inpatient psychiatric units for adolescents and adults in hospitals in addition to having a private practice. He has presented to over 350,000 people around the world and has written more than 60 articles and 6 book chapters. Dr. Reidenberg was one of the lead authors of the US National Strategy for the Prevention of Suicide (2012) and the US National Prioritized Research Agenda (2016). Dr Reidenberg was the first to bring the world’s leading technology companies together in 2006 to work on suicide prevention and mental health related tools, apps, policies and procedures, created the best practices for technology companies and a cross-industry group. He wrote the US Best Practices for Media Reporting on Suicide and helped develop the Cisco AI News Reporting Tool. He also wrote the best practices for US Media Reporting on Mass Shootings, best practices for Medical Examiners and Coroner’s Talking with Media. He developed an evidence-based program for schools called LEADS for Youth; the only online peer support program for suicide; a leading program for the construction industry called IBEAM as well as One Step Ahead – a comprehensive model workplace suicide prevention program. Dr. Reidenberg has worked with the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization and he created the world’s only certification program for safe messaging on suicide, as well as the National Media Award program for reporting on suicide and mental health.
Dr. Reidenberg has been interviewed by major media including: CNN, Larry King, Good Morning America, Good Morning Europe, PBS, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Huffington Post, Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, BBC and radio in Australia, Russia, Canada and the UK.
He received numerous awards including the Service to Humanity Award, the Service to Suicidology Award, was recognized as a Champion of Change by The Obama Administration and he is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and with the Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award.
